Kate studied English & American Literature and Film Studies at the University of Kent at Canterbury before training as an actress at the Drama Studio, London. Before a career at the William Morris Agency in London saw her heading up the "talent department", Kate managed to earn a living variously as a waitress, shop assistant, auctioneer's clerk, Sotheby's PA, publishing assistant, temp secretary, running a catering company (mostly children's tea-parties) and recording sultry barely-erotic pre-recorded soundbites for the lonely, horny and near-a-phone-at-2.00-in-the-morning. Her interests range from the more obscure details of Renaissance waxworks, to the Age of Enlightenment, to late Victorian sexual excess, to post Afghanistan PTSD, to the haute-couture catwalk, taking in a bit of hard-core thriller and slapstick silent comedy along the way. True stories fascinate; true stories about extraordinary people, now forgotten, resonate even more. At heart, a storyteller with an endless fascination in the human condition and its need to belong, to love and be loved return.
